The 2009 Lesbian Health Summit Coordinating Committee invites you to join us in expanding our movement at the National Lesbian Health Summit. This Summit is focused on lesbians, bisexual women, queer women, and transgender people. While our workshops and speakers will address these communities, the Summit itself will be welcoming to all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) communities, and our important friends and allies, nationally and internationally.

Calling all queer artists! The Queer Cultural Center in San Francisco is currently accepting submissions for the 2009 National Queer Arts Festival. This year the theme is “threads.”
“What are the threads that bind, mend and sometimes unravel this spectacular fabric of queer art? How does this queerness operate? How does it present itself? How do we fashion, perform, subvert or display queerness in our art and lives?
We hope to explore these themes in art in all mediums that incorporate (in the broadest sense of these ideas): sewing, knitting, weaving, braiding, binding, knotting, textiles, quilting, patchwork, costuming, fashion and fashion events, drag, second skins, performance art, woven texts, blogs, digital networks and communities.”
The submission deadline is February 14, 2009 which, incidentally, is the same day as the BYOQ Valentine’s Gay party so it should be hard to forget! All media, from paintings to performance art, will be accepted. Click on the link below for more information and to download a PDF regarding submission guidelines. Artists are responsible for transportation, but all artwork will be insured by the gallery once there.
