Homos have been silenced for tooooo long! Now is our time to speak our minds! and we are doing so with this blog! Tell us what you’d like to see on Be Yr Own Queero. What kind of things will keep you coming back? and wanting more when hitting crtl + r doesn’t bring up anything new?
This site is for YOU, so let’s make it awesome. If you don’t like the way it looks, tell us! Is it confusing? Let us know! We aren’t trying to confuse you on purpose! Are contests lame? Then let us know and we’ll keep all the prizes for ourselves ;)
Do you want more video? More Music? More ways to take action! seriously, we aren’t going anywhere and we are going to keep sending out tweets, myspace msgs/comments/bulletins, facebook events, etc all over your internetz, so there is really no escaping us. It’s not like we are asking you for money or anything, just a little feedback! Things are only going to get better tomorrow, and the next day, so you might as well get in on this.

On Monday Scantron asked ya’ll to share your stories of being bullied for being gay in High School in conjunction with Equality NC’s campaign for Safe Schools / Anti-bullying petition in North Carolina. I found this great example on this week’s edition on the Post Secret Blog.

What’s going on this Week @ BYOQ
This is a very busy week at the Rainbow Factory (map), make sure you come and check out some of our events for this week:
We have our first queer dance party scheduled for this Saturday, February 14. Valentine’s Gay is gonna be a blast, Ninjatronics (our very own scantron and teknacolorninja!) will be spinning your favorite tunes at the party and have asked that guests bring a mix CD which Ninjatron will add to the night’s play list. We are also going to have a couple of visualizers hooked up and a photo booth so you can remember this Valentine’s Gay for life. Be sure to bring a few dollars to throw in for donations. We’ve had a few questions come up about what it is all about, but the only way you really are going to know is by showing up, so just do it! (Oh yeah, and dress up in all one color.)
The Sunday following is our Queero Bike Date, it will begin at 1PM at the Rainbow Factory and will take you on a leisurely stroll through downtown Wilmington highlighting all of our GLBTQ spots. The tour will stop at Greenfield Lake (map) for the Gayest Picnic Contest! Interpret this in any gay way you would like! If you are unable to ride with us feel free to meet us at the park, the crew should be arriving around 2:30PM. Meet at the area between the skate park and the playground.
Just like every other Sunday, we are having our weekly potluck and showing of the L Word. We have had a great turn out every Sunday so far so let us keep it going and bring your best veggie dishes! The Potluck starts at 7:30 and we usually start the L Word shortly after 9, if you can’t get there on time we have a break midway through the show so come then! There are always amazing homemade dishes by the queeros!
If anyone has any questions or would like to help with preparations be sure to send us an email this week, and we will be glad to fill you in! Looking forward to seeing all ya’ll queeros!
