“I’m currently working on a photography project, “Evolve: the trans love experience” with transmen and their sexual partners. often times in heteronormative cultures, the media represents a rather exploitative look at trans-persons lives, visualizing them as exotic or the other. the focus will be on an idea of sexuality, trans-identity and intimacy evolving and being maleable. transmen don’t represent just one sexual orientation or identity and aren’t only about what genitalia they have or don’t have.
i am shooting trans men and their sexual partners in the subjects own environment, not posed, and in intimate positions. the subjects sexual partners can be their lover, friend with benefits or someone they like to get naked with from time to time. this is NOT a trans porn project. all images are being shot in good taste. it is about expressing love; love of partnership, love of sex and love of bodies.
requirements: at least one person in the photograph must identify as trans male. it doesn’t matter how far along he is in transition; pre t, pre surgery or post surgery. you have to be comfortable with me shooting in your own living space. i do not require either subjects to be naked or clothed. i want the subjects to be as comfortable as possible and as natural as possible.
if you might be interested in participating in this project or know someone who might be, please forward this information and contact me. all persons who participate will receive images from the shoot. i can be contacted at dom@dominicperri.com . i am trying to schedule shoots between now and mid-june for those located in or near the NY/NJ/PA area. if you don’t live around here, that is alright, just contact me and we will work something out.”

AFTER he posted the first seven pictures on his Web site, Jeff Sheng could not sleep.
“I kept getting up and checking my e-mail,” he said. “I was expecting to hear from someone in the military. What if they demanded information from me? Some of the people I photographed have been serving for 20 years. They could lose their pensions.”
Mr. Sheng, a photographer, had finished the first phase of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” a series of portraits of gay men and lesbians serving in the military, all of them in uniform and with their faces obscured in some way — by a hand, a door frame or by darkness. Some subjects turn their backs to the camera. In one image an airman who takes the pseudonym Jess sits on a hotel bed leaning forward. One elbow rests on his knee, his hand cupping his face to shield it from the camera. The portrait is pervaded by a sense of loneliness and isolation.

On Wednesday, the NOH8 campaign protesting California’s Proposition 8 announced a new high-profile Republican supporter: John McCain’s wife, Cindy McCain. NOH8 is a photo project in which subjects are photographed wearing white, against a white background, with their mouths taped shut and “NOH8” painted on their faces.
