Earlier this month, I wrote a blog post about the LGBT Bloggers Summit that I attended in Washington DC. The event was organized by Mike Rogers of PageOneQ.com. Mike is well known in the online gay community for calling out anti-gay public figures. The most recent public figure that he has called national attention to is Reverend Rick Warren. Mike was recently on MSNBC’s Hardball along with Reverend Eugene Rivers. Despite the backlash from the gay community on Obama’s choice for Rick Warren to give the invocation at his Inauguration, Mike sees this as a victory for our community. Well, just watch the video because Mike hits on some really good points.

Getting someone to change the language on their website may be a small step and it doesn’t necessarily mean that just because the language has been altered their views align with the new content. It does show, however, that our community will not stand the misinformation and the discrimination that is brought upon us each day. We are tired of being treated as less than human and it’s time for us to hold people accountable when they are being divisive. So, cheers to you Mike, for looking at this situation in a positive light. We won’t get anywhere by attacking people, we just need to show them the way.
